Focus on the Figure
Selections from the Permanent Collection and New Acquisitions
February 6 – July 7, 2002
Plaza Level Gallery
Focus on the
Figure reveals a range of ways
in which artists of our time
have incorporated the figure in their art. Drawing
from MAM’s permanent collection and area collections,
the exhibition includes twenty-five works in painting, sculpture,
photography and installation.
The current installation is inspired
by the recent acquisition of George Segal’s Abraham’s
Farewell to Ishmael of 1988, the first donation to a museum
from the George and Helen Segal Foundation.
