Assistant Director for Communications
Miami Art Museum seeks talented, experienced, and energetic professional to manage active P.R. and Marketing department during an exciting period of growth in the communication of the museum’s mission, expansion plans, exhibitions and other programs to local, regional, and national audiences. MAM is undergoing an expansion with new building plans underway, set to open in 2012. Responsibilities include marketing, advertising, media relations and public relations planning for the purpose of institutional positioning, media visibility, revenue enhancement, and audience growth. Individual should be a team player who works effectively with a variety of individuals and groups both internally and externally. Relevant experience skills include marketing and public relations strategizing, management skill, market research and analysis, consumer communications, advertising buying, advertising planning, advertising media negotiations, media/press events, event planning, advertising, and positioning. Required: Bachelors Degree in marketing, public relations, journalism or related field 5 to 10 years of media and community relations experience; Knowledge of media relations principles and parties; Established media contacts; Experience with the marketing surrounding the opening of a new museum expansion and/or previous museum/non-profit highly desirable; Solid management/supervisory experience. Familiarity with electronic (web) publishing; excellent writing and verbal skills; superb planning and organizational abilities; creativity; computer literacy.
