Open, Full-Time Position: Graphic Designer
Department: Marketing and Communications, External Affairs Division
Reports to: Director of Marketing and Communications
Summary Description: Designs a variety of marketing materials including brochures and other printed materials, banners, signage, print ads, advertising and marketing collateral produced for electronic distribution. Maintains and updates museum website; images and graphics as well as introducing new features.
Responsibilities
- Manage production schedule: In consultation with the Communications Director, sets production schedules and priorities for projects to be completed in-house.
- Provides images, logos and other graphics and technical expertise for marketing design projects.
- Identifies and works closely with service bureaus and others to achieve timely production results. Works with printers to communicate specifications and ensure quality materials, to acquire bids, and attends press checks when requested, to assure quality control in the printing process itself.
- Interfaces with appropriate departments to ensure accuracy. Fine tunes design with regular input from Communications Director. Guides project through departments for editorial review and to Communications Director for design and content approval.
- Ensures the museum’s logo is properly applied and style guides are followed.
- In concert with Exhibition Designer, determines design concepts for exhibitions and related signage and marketing.
- Performs technical tasks including conversion of documents; resizing, scanning and color-correcting of images; loading files to the server.
- Ensures all design requirements for the reproduction of art works are followed
- Creates systems for managing content and editorial work flow for database-driven sections of Website.
- Obtains advertising specifications and coordinates placements according to advertising plan developed by Communications Director.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years professional experience with all aspects of graphic design, multimedia design, website design.
- Experience creating collateral materials for national/international brands, museums or other art/culture-related projects a plus. Agency experience a plus.
- Expertise in design software including Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), Acrobat Pro, Quark, Flash, Dreamweaver or comparable software skills on a Mac platform. High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Proven record of successfully negotiating with other professionals in the marketplace.
- Excellent verbal and visual communications skills required. Attention to detail.

Open, Full-Time Position: Facilities Manager
Department: Finance
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer
Summery Description: The Facilities Manager (FM) is responsible for all aspect of the maintenance and support of the new Miami Art Museum's building and grounds. They will manage all department operations and will represent the department to all other departments within the Miami Art Museum and to all outside agencies. The FM will coordinate long-term support to other MAM departments. Implementing best practices, the Facilities Manager will maintain and monitor physical plant operations, direct staff in performance of building maintenance, housekeeping and landscape services, and provide assets and labor in support of museum operations in a new building. The FM will develop, implement and monitor annual buildings and grounds budgets including in house staff and contracted work.
Responsibilities:
- Provide a preventive maintenance program that ensures all assets are maintained in accordance with industry recommended best practices and manufacturer's instructions.
- Interview, hire, train, and direct buildings and grounds staff. Perform staff evaluations.
- Monitor and review the development and submission of the new building close out packages including manuals, warrantees, and training. Coordinate the building commissioning of the building with the design team.
- Through continuing inspections and direction to staff, ensure that the building and grounds appearance is exemplary.
- Support other departments in ensuring that the museum delivers a quality experience to all visitors.
- Work closely with the Security Director to ensure that all safety and security systems operate correctly at all times.
- Schedule staff and employ assets so that the department operates in an effective and efficient manner.
- Insure that housekeeping services result in a healthy, sanitary environment for staff and visitors.
- Develop and direct the implementation of the buildings and grounds disaster and recovery management protocols.
- Closely monitor the HVAC systems to maintain an environment that supports conservation of the collection.
- Operate the Building Management System (BMS) and associated controls.
- Survey, select, monitor, and control vendors and contractors. Act as the museum's representative for all buildings and grounds work performed by outside agents.
- In consultation with other museum staff, plan and direct interior and exterior renovations.
- Develop, implement, and monitor the annual department operating budget and the budget for capital improvements including work assigned to outside agencies.
During construction: The Facilities Manager will meet periodically with the design team and construction manager during construction to review the building and systems designs. The FM will:
- Make recommendations on any maintenance related issues of the building and system design.
- Research and present any potential maintenance subcontracts required by the new design.
- In coordination with the accounting department, review invoices, contracts, purchase orders, applications for payment etc. and discuss any outstanding issues, questions or conflicts with the Project Director.
Qualifications:
- The Facilities Manager should have a minimum of a two year degree in an allied field, and five years experience in facilities management.
- A superior knowledge of physical plant operations in a dynamic environment is required including a working knowledge of centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, pumps and BMS (Building Management Systems) controls.
- Also, the FM should have a general knowledge of all current city, state, and national health and safety regulations relating to building operations or know where to find them.
- Candidate should also be able to work holidays and evenings in support of museum events or facility requirements.
- Prior experience with a museum or non-profit is desirable.

Open, Full-Time Position: Associate Curator
Department: Curatorial
Reports to: Chief Curator/Deputy Director of Curatorial Affairs
Summary Description: The Associate Curator is primarily responsible for designated exhibitions, commissioned projects, research and publications, acquisitions, and donor contacts related to the exhibitions and the collection, general administrative duties. Reports to the Chief Curator/Deputy Director of Curatorial Affairs. In collaboration with Curatorial staff, assist in research, development and realization of the annual exhibition schedule, including direct and indirect participation in selection, organization, and realization of traveling exhibitions, MAM initiated exhibitions and commissioned projects to support and express the Museum’s mission. Assume responsibilities for development, information flow, and organization and realization of designated exhibitions. Collaborate closely with Registrar, and Education, as well as outside curators and artists, to assure professional, efficient, and quality presentation of all designated exhibitions and projects.Works with all MAM staff to keep them informed of exhibition developments and assist in the distribution and dissemination of current and future information.

Responsibilities:
- MAM Exhibitions
- Contributes to the annual planning of exhibitions and commissioned projects.
- Conceptualize, research, and present visual materials and budgetary information for the approval process.
- Working with artists and/or outside institutions to develop exhibition loan contracts, work timetables, and installation schedules for designated exhibitions in collaboration with appropriate MAM staff.
- Develop and produce exhibition publications, which may also require contracting outside essayists, editors, and translators.
- Development and oversight of publication’s budget; coordination of publication design and production, distribution and marketing.
- Development of tour packages and scheduling when appropriate.
- Writing, editing, and production of Gallery Notes and other explanatory texts when appropriate.
- Acknowledgment of donors and lenders, including special invitations and thank you.
- Research and Planning
- Research and information gathering for possible future exhibitions.
- Research on works to present to the Collector’s Council.
- Research on possible works for donation to the collection from local collections.
- Collaborate and participate in exhibition presentations to staff of upcoming exhibitions.
- Collaborate in development of Curatorial Department procedures and planning schedules.
- Contribute to research, development, and organization of artist and donor files for collection.
- Education
- Work with Education on identifying and implementing outreach collaborations.
- Liason with Education on information and materials on upcoming exhibitions.
- Collaborate with Education Department in planning symposia, film series, lectures, and special events and programs.
- Selection of video and reading room materials for designated exhibitions and collaborate on the content of visitor’s galleries for designated exhibitions.
- Attend all lectures and symposia and special exhibition related events.

- Public Affairs and Marketing
- Maintain a high level of involvement and exposure in the art community by attending arts related events, serving on cultural panels and maintaining contact with artists, curators, educators, and collectors regionally, nationally, and internationally.
- Contribute identifying and developing relationships with arts writers and journalists locally and internationally.
- Development
- Provide expertise and information on exhibitions to MAM grants writer for grants applications.
- Provide curatorial expertise and exhibition information and support documents for fundraising. This may include writing of fundraising proposals for designated exhibitions.
- Assist Development in identifying possible fundraising opportunities in conjunction with designated exhibitions.
- General Curatorial Departmental Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and oversight of general curatorial budget.
- Oversee general administrative duties of department and supervision of one or more Curatorial interns, fellows.
