MAM International Committee $5,000 All but $200 is tax deductible
MAM’s International Committee comprises leading art collectors and patrons who share a strong connection with Miami, its art and role as a burgeoning art capital. A group of Miami residents form the Host Committee, dedicated to receiving other International Committee members during their annual visit to Miami in December.
The Committee serves as an international resource for the museum. Through regular interaction with MAM’s staff and trustees, the members of the Committee provides MAM with a variety of cultural perspectives, on-the-ground information from their respective areas of operation, and other appropriate assistance.
The Committee meets twice a year. In December of each year the Committee meets in Miami during Art Basel Miami Beach. The purpose of this meeting is to conduct the Committee’s business, to attend the Art Basel fair, and to increase the members’ knowledge of MAM and its trustees, staff and programs. During the December meeting, the Miami Host Committee and museum staff provide hospitality, assistance, and local expertise.
The Committee also meets in the Spring or early Summer of each year. The location of each meeting in the first half of the year rotates between North America, Latin America, and Europe. The purpose of the Spring trip is to conduct the Committee’s business, increase the members’ knowledge of arts-related activities in other parts of the world, and act as goodwill ambassadors and advocates for MAM abroad. During the Spring meetings, local Committee members provide hospitality and assist in arranging the program.
There is an Honorary Chair of the Committee who is widely respected within the fields of fine arts and international affairs. Additionally, there are three co-chairs – one each from North America, Latin America, and Europe.
MAM International Committee dues are $5,000 annually. Committee members’ dues support exhibitions and educational activities related to MAM’s international programs. A portion of Committee members’ funds are earmarked for international curatorial travel for research outside the United States. Travel expenses are not included in the annual dues.
