Kindergarten through twelfth grade students develop an understanding of modern and contemporary art through lively, inquiry-based tours. Tours foster critical thinking and literacy skills emphasized by the newly adopted Common Core Curriculum State Standards, and Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) guidelines. Led by MAM's professional Teaching Artists, visits are approximately 90 minutes in length.
The museum offers tours Tuesdays through Fridays at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. throughout the academic year. Tour admission for students and chaperones is complimentary.

In an effort to lift economic barriers to access, the Miami Art Museum can provide buses for all Miami-Dade County Public Schools and Title I private schools for tours.
High school teachers may choose to bring their classes to the Museum, on their own, to address a particular area of the curriculum. Please notify education in advance to ensure your trip does not coincide with other group visits. Self-guided visits may take place in the morning but please note museum-led tours take precedence. One chaperone is required for every ten students. Free for all students with valid ID.

Scholastic Art Awards and Exhibition
In conjunction with Miami-Dade County Public Schools, MAM hosts the Scholastic Art Awards and Exhibition each year in January. The exhibition showcases the best work of young artists in both public and private schools. Students, teachers, families and friends from throughout the county celebrate the awards on the Cultural Plaza. Winners go on to compete at the national level.
MAM offers educators professional enrichment workshops designed to explore teaching strategies and interdisciplinary connections to works of art in MAM's permanent collection. Workshops include private tours, hands-on activities and discussions with curators. Each workshop offers the opportunity to network with colleagues and share perspectives on new approaches to education. M-DCPS teachers are eligible to receive Master Plan Points.
MAM offers interdisciplinary resources for classroom use, based on works of art in the Museum's Permanent Collection. Packets include background information on the artist, visuals and activities that can be easily introduced to the classroom. All resources are provided electronically. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for details.
Teachers can request up to 40 free Family Passes each semester to distribute as rewards for their students. Passes include free admission for two adults, valued at $16 (children are always free).
Tours and classroom visits as described above are also offered to special needs groups. All tours and visits can be accommodated to the circumstances of the group. Please let us know how we can make your experience more rewarding.
