Carlos Cruz-Diez: The Embodied Experience of Color
In March 2010, Miami Art Museum opened an exhibition of interactive works by Carlos Cruz-Diez (b. 1923, Caracas), one of Latin America’s most important living masters. Carlos Cruz-Diez: The Embodied Experience of Color (March 19 - June 20, 2010) features four participatory environments created from color and light including Cromosaturación (Chromosaturation), a groundbreaking artwork first conceived in 1965.

BETWEEN HERE AND THERE: Modern and Contemporary Art from the Permanent Collection
In preparation for the move its new, expanded facility at Museum Park, Miami Art Museum opened the first, long-term installation of its growing Permanent Collection in the museum’s largest exhibition space. The exhibition offers visitors an opportunity to see the strides MAM has made in building a “Miami point of view” of developments in modern and contemporary art, while preparing for the collection’s permanent installation at Museum Park.

Carlos Bunga: Metamorphosis
 |
In November 2009, Miami Art Museum opened artist Carlos Bunga's first, U.S. solo exhibition. Bunga builds cardboard cities inside art spaces, only to slice them apart, leaving behind challenging works and provocative questions. Curator Rina Carvajal introduces County Connection host Kim Anthony to Bunga's work.

Carlos Bunga's Performance at MAM
After carefully building his structures over a period of weeks, Carlos Bunga submits them to a radical transformation. In a final, cathartic, and performative act, he tears and slices the walls of his constructions, making them implode and revealing additional layers that lie buried within their interiors waiting to be discovered, like hidden traces of memory.

Space as Medium

Space as Medium (November 20, 2009 – February 28, 2010) is a group exhibition focusing on the development of artistic practices that directly address the walls, floors and ceilings of the physical spaces in which they are installed. The exhibition is conceived as an inter-generational dialogue among artists who helped develop these practices in the 1960s and the younger artists whom they have influenced and inspired, either directly or indirectly.

Guillermo Kuitca: Everything
In October of 2009, Miami Art Museum premiered the most comprehensive survey of the work of Argentine artist Guillermo Kuitca ever presented in North America. Guillermo Kuitca: Everything, Paintings and Works on Paper, 1980-2008 will trace the evolution of Kuitca’s work through more than 50 canvases and 25 works on paper, spanning 28 years of the artist’s career.

MAM Morning Lectures: "Art in Miami"

Miami Art Museum is set to kick off it's annual lecture series, MAM Morning Lectures. This year's series, Art in Miami, presents a panorama of the arts from 1896 to the contemporary scene, as told by local artists, historians, critics and curators.
